What is The Isaiah Chronicles?

The Isaiah Chronicles is a multi-volume LDS historical fiction series set in Jerusalem during the reigns of Uzziah, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. Book One — The Year the King Died — follows a young man who witnesses corruption at the city gate and is called to speak a word no one wants to hear. The novel begins in the year King Uzziah died (Isaiah 6:1) — the same year Isaiah saw the LORD high and lifted up in the Throne Vision. Every artifact, character, and prophecy in the series is traceable to a real verse, a real archaeological dig site, or a real museum. The series is grounded in verifiable archaeology: the Hezekiah Bulla, the Siloam Inscription, the Sennacherib Prism, the Lachish Reliefs, and the Broad Wall of Jerusalem (Isaiah 22:10). Book One is available as an ebook and audiobook at theisaiahchronicles.com/buy.

Why is Isaiah so important in the Book of Mormon?

Isaiah is the most-quoted Old Testament prophet in both the Book of Mormon and the New Testament. Over one-third of the Book of Isaiah appears verbatim in the Book of Mormon — 2 Nephi 12–24 reproduces Isaiah 2–14 word for word. Nephi wrote: "My soul delighteth in his words" (2 Nephi 11:2). Jesus Christ quoted Isaiah in the Sermon on the Mount, in 3 Nephi, and in the Doctrine and Covenants. John 12:41 states that Isaiah saw the premortal Christ in the Throne Vision (Isaiah 6). Isaiah 53 — the Suffering Servant prophecy — was written approximately 700 years before the Crucifixion and is the most precise Messianic prophecy in the Old Testament. Isaiah is quoted approximately 60 times directly in the New Testament alone. The Isaiah Chronicles exists to make that density of prophecy impossible to miss — by putting the reader inside the world where it was first spoken.

How does The Isaiah Chronicles connect to Come Follow Me 2026?

The Come Follow Me 2026 Old Testament curriculum covers Isaiah in five consecutive weeks: September 14–October 18, 2026 (CFM Weeks 38–42, covering Isaiah 1–66). The Isaiah Chronicles is designed as a companion for those five weeks. The 8-week Discovery Guide maps directly to the CFM Isaiah chapters — the Throne Vision (Isaiah 6) in Week 1, the Immanuel prophecy (Isaiah 7) in Week 2, the Suffering Servant (Isaiah 53) in Week 6, and the sealed book (Isaiah 29) in Week 7. The Discovery Cards cover every major CFM Isaiah theme. A full week-by-week companion with official CFM lesson links is at theisaiahchronicles.com/cfm.

What do the scriptures say about Isaiah?

Isaiah is the only Old Testament prophet Jesus Christ commanded his disciples to search by name. Three witnesses — Nephi, Christ himself, and the Apostle John — each left a direct statement about Isaiah's importance that the series takes as its foundation:

"My soul delighteth in his words… for he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I have seen him."

"Search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah."

"These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him."

Isaiah is quoted approximately 60 times directly in the New Testament and accounts for 21 of 66 chapters quoted in the Book of Mormon. The Isaiah Chronicles is the story of the man behind those numbers — told from inside the world where the words were first spoken.

Why does Isaiah matter?

Because he saw the Savior — seven hundred years before Bethlehem.

Sixty New Testament quotes. One prophet. One vision. The Isaiah Chronicles tells the story behind every one of them.

I've read Isaiah my whole life and never understood it. This changed that in week one.

The Author

T.M. Krieg

I spent years reading Isaiah and feeling like I was missing something — something enormous. The archaeology was real. The prophecies were specific. The history was verifiable. But nobody was telling the story. So I wrote it.

The Isaiah Chronicles is eight novels built on the actual text, the actual artifacts, and the actual history of 8th-century Jerusalem. Every bulla, every siege ramp, every name — checked. The story is the scholarship, made to live.
